Let’s play a game to get to know each other better. I’ll tell you my secrets and you tell me yours. Deal? Here are 10 things you may not know about me yet.
I was the voice of the daily horoscopes for Audible.com for 2 years.
I’m the queen of random jobs and this was one that I loved. I’d go into the studio once a week to record all the horoscopes for each day of the coming week. It was a lot of fun and if I got the opportunity to get this job back, I’d go for it! I’m an Aries, so of course, I gave you the sample from my season. Listen below!
My hair turned gray when I was 12.
Eeek! It’s true! Here’s the story: It was a hot summer afternoon and I was visiting a friend after school. She was braiding my hair and then stopped to tell me that she’d found a gray. Naturally, I didn’t believe her, so I said “nu uhhh! You’re lying.” You know, just like a 12-year-old would do. The next thing I knew she’d ripped that silver streak from my hair and presented it to me as if she was handing me a delicate rose. It was all downhill from there. Now my hair is nothing but a sea of white tresses but my colorist keeps it brunette(ish). One day I may get really bold and just let it go. That could be fun!
I played a superhero on tv and fractured my elbow, but it didn’t happen in a cool way…
Ahhhh yes! Dreams do come true. Weeks of super-suit fittings, the anticipation of getting to play a physical character, and then the day came when I got to start shooting the show. Bliss!! About halfway through on the first day, I got a quick call to set. It wasn’t one of the usual hurry up and wait situations. It was one of those situations where we were being hustled to set and shooting immediately. In a flurry of excitement, there was a stumble and the next thing I knew I found myself on the ground with bloody hands and knees and my pride barely intact. I thought I was ok, but I fell from the top step of my trailer to a concrete parking lot. Adrenaline can only hold you over for a short while. Before I knew it, I’d passed out and awoke 5 minutes later to see the medic standing over me and my castmates nearby in tears. Jasmine was almost certain that I had died. It wasn’t my best moment, but I recovered. I spent the rest of the night in the emergency room and then went right back to set early the next morning to do it all over again. I wasn’t going to be “that girl” who breaks an arm and can’t shoot the next day. The show must go on, amirite? Most of the footage from my episode of Doom Patrol was shot with my injury. So, I guess in a way that makes me a real-life superhero. At least it does in my mind.
I sang for the Vice President on his social security tour
Once upon a time, I was an American Idol Semi-Finalist. Thanks to that, I was invited to do a lot of cool things. One of those cool things was to sing “America The Beautiful” for then-Vice President, Dick Cheney. I was extremely nervous. Even more nervous than I was to step on the Idol stage and sing for the entire country. There’s just something about being in the presence of one of the guys in charge of the nation that humbles you.
I started learning to play the piano in July of 2019
Who says you’re ever too old to learn something new? I’ve always wanted to be a piano player but life has continuously gotten in the way of that desire. I played the flute and piccolo as a kid so piano just wasn’t something that fit into the schedule. After years of talking about wanting to play, I found a piano on Facebook Marketplace and bought it with the intention of becoming a great piano player. In an effort to make sure I stuck to it this time, I hired a teacher and now I take lessons every other week. Hooray for checking things off the bucket list.

I have a tattoo on my arm
I got a tattoo of the word “free” on my arm with a bird design a few years ago while on a Cinco de Mayo trip to Miami. It represents the top value in my value system. Freedom. If you’re going to put something on your body permanently, you should make sure it means something. Who knows if I’ll still like it when I’m super old, but for now I think it’s great!
The first short film I wrote was a sci-fi thriller
There’s a lot of classes that we actors take. One of my favorites was a creation class where we did a “writer’s room” and came up with a concept for a short film based on characters we all wanted to play. In a class of 12 people, that can get crazy because the characters ranged from super villians with telepathic abilities to roller derby champions, detectives and the list goes on. So, how does one make all that work? By creating a psychological experience where all of these characters exist in the same universe but in their own worlds. Intrigued? Click HERE to read Frag!
cocker spaniels are my favorite dogs
Everyone who loves dogs knows that there’s certain ones that just really make you happy. I personally love cocker spaniels. Sophie, my sweet girl, is 8 years old and she’s the 5th spaniel I’ve been able to love and invite into my family. Look at that face!!! Omgahhh she’s perfection!
I dropped out of college 4 times before figuring out where i belonged.
That’s right folks! I’m a college drop out. I tried to get a degree a few times because I thought it was what you had to do to be successful in life. I pursued a degree in business administration and never made it past my Freshman year because I just felt like I didn’t belong there. Eventually the college put me on academic probabation and wouldn’t allow me to re-enroll. It’s as if they knew I was meant to be somewhere else and boy were they right!
I host car commercials every month.
I suppose this is what you would call my longest standing “real job.” It’s the only gig that I go to every single month. These commercials have been in my life for 4 years and found an extended family in the people I work with. It’s been a gift. I’m truly grateful.
In the comments below, tell me which of these fun facts about me that you liked the most AND then share one thing that you think is interesting about you that people probably don’t know. I’m excited to get to know you better.
Cheers my friend!
