What’s your story morning glory? – Ella Fitzgerald
We live in a world of constant connection. People are inundated with ads, and in a way, they’ve grown unaffected by them. Marketing becomes more and more difficult as you try to differentiate yourself from other businesses and no matter how hard you try, things can still fall flat. So how do you cut through the noise?
Be a storyteller.
Get down, dirty and real with your audience. It goes a long way. Here’s why.
Have you ever felt close to someone just because they open up to share a secret or two about themselves? Yep. We all have. It gives you a sense of comfort and that’s basically the equivalent of someone putting a warm blanket around your shoulders. Kinda nice, huh?
That same principle applies to digital storytelling for your business. Your tribe will find you and they will stick with you because you’ve given them a piece of your history. You’ve shown them vulnerability. People love authenticity so don’t be afraid to let your truth flag fly! You’ll be amazed by how they respond.
Nobody shares the exact same story, so there’s no better way to make your business stand out from the crowd than storytelling. Your journey is what makes you unique and it makes your business specifically prepared to serve your tribe.
I don’t know about you, but I find that to be a superpower. Take time to think through your story and what makes you unique, then highlight those things in your digital storytelling.
When you’re selling a product, you’re selling so much more than just that product. You’re selling the story behind why you decided to create it in the first place. People are buying into YOU. You are connecting with them through your product and it allows them to feel understood. Your solution to a shared issue creates a connection between you and your tribe.
Trust is the bottom line. If people don’t trust you or your product, then nobody is going to buy what you’re selling. By incorporating your story, you humanize your brand and that builds trust.
Every person has a story. Every brand has a story. Every business has a story. Start writing yours and share it with the world.
